What a strange word!
Go ahead, say it out loud as fast as you can 10 times: plankton,
plankton, plank…. Well, plankton are living things found in
the ocean that are slow swimmers and some don't even swim at all,
they just float around. Imagine being in ocean water over your head:
you would be swimming to keep your head above water so you could
breathe.
Plankton
don't need to stay above water in order to breathe, but they do
float closer to the surface of the ocean rather than sinking to
the bottom of the sea. They cannot swim against the currents, so
they go wherever the water takes them. In other words, they go with
the flow.
